Happy Birthday, William!

It's crazy how fast a year flies by! I have had the pleasure of photographing little William several times throughout his life so far.. and I can't believe he is already a year old. It has been really great watching this little guy grow. He is such a little love bug, and is loved by so many people.

Today his moms threw him a pretty awesome first birthday bash, and I was asked to take some pictures at his big event.

Happy first birthday, William Axel! And! Congrats to Kristen and Jewel for surviving the first year.

Vegas!

My husband had two weeks paid vacation before starting his new job, and of course I had crazy ideas of what we could do together with the time. First we went to Canon Beach, and the second week I had the crazy idea of leaving the following day for a trip to Vegas. So we did just that! We went to Vegas on a whim for three days. It was super fun, too!

I actually didn't take too many photos while there, but did become somewhat obsessed with the masquerade people at the Palazzo. These people were all dressed up, and basically walked around the hotel and casino for people to take pictures of them. I know, it does sound cheesy. At least I thought it was until I saw these two tree women. They has stilts for legs and arms, so they were really tall. They were all covered with vines and leaves and grapes.  They were so interesting to look at. And one of them posed really well for photographs.

Here are a few of the shots of the tree woman:

It was so fun to be able to just pick up and go places these two weeks my husband has been off. Taking trips really inspire my creativity for photography. I came back to Seattle more excited than ever to take pictures, and am excited about my next photo shoots.

Canon Beach Trip

My husband and I decided to take advantage of us having some time off together and took a lovely three day trip to Canon Beach, Oregon. Usually when we go to the beach we go to Long Beach, but decided to switch it up this time. We brought our two chihuahuas and spent a lot of time walking around on the beach. It was so nice to get away from Seattle and relax.

I, of course, took plenty of photographs. Mainly while at the beach. The weather made for some interesting shots. There seemed to be random patches of fog along the beach, making the people that were there more sillouettes or shadows. I was a little disappointed because the clouds and fog did not make for the best sunsets, which I was looking forward to photographing..    I did still really enjoy being creative with the fog.

I feel most comfortable doing portrait photography, so doing landscapes and more journalistic types of photography really pushes and challenges me. I love how these shots turned out!
